Dual view gaming (split screen Full screen!)-Any passive 3D TV can do it now!! COD Demo

I did the below on my LG but any passive 3D TV will be able to do this. * Pop the right lense out on one and left one out on the other. I say pop because you simply need small screwdriver or nail as i used and the inner seal pops right out and just take lense out. (LG party pack) * Setup Tv ready for testing…I used black ops split screen, then choose 3D top / bottom. * swap the lenses over to the other glasses, not turned round or anything **important** to confirm youve got pair matched correctly test on the TV by holding up you’ll get a clear 2D picture. Hold up other glasses and lense and youll get a different clear picture. * I just then carefully trimmed the lenses so they’d fit in and they still fill the hole completely. * click the lense holder back around and your done. Now with LG’s technology regarding its 3D mode and way it does 4 frames in the 120hz band (this is how it got full 3d HD accreditation) you get 1080i graphics so looks fine and no major loss in detail……its worth it for the private part knowing that the person on the other screen cant see your screen. Please give thumbs up if ive helped or your impressed. Many companies will be selling this on next yrs TV’s i expect which will be more refined, but todays tv’s can do it.

@killerferret666 well your right and your wrong while passive 3D TVs are 1080i in 2D & 3D. But when you are in 3D mode it does split the pixel count in each eye. You see two different 540 images at the same time giving you 1080i image quality while watching 3D. However, with split screen mode there no 3D image, its a 2D image and your only using 1/2 of the image either the left eye image which is 540 for one character or the right eyes image again just 540 for the other character.

I have tried turning my tv from 2D to 3D but with the Real 3D glasses you get from the theaters, but I still see the screen blurry, and when i put on my LG Glasses and turn them on I see everything perfect. Does that mean even if I do what you did I will still not be able to play split screen?

@killerferret666 think he is confused ,what he did in the video was basically use the ” top down 3d mode ” in the passive 3d tv so top and bottom images of the split screen becomes 1 in 3d then filtered to each lense, so the TV does all the 3d work and no drivers needed for the computer itself ,try it on youtube videos of dirt 3 split screen for exsample

@mservelle Hi, its just an LG LW650T, but this would work on 550T, 450U as well as other Passive 3D Tv’s.

No special 3D mode, simple start a 2D split screen, press 3D button and do top / bottom. Then to test put normal 3D glasses on and blink with each eye to see the different output.

    hello
what is the reference of your TV
It is a special 3D mode or only a basic 3D TV.

@dontwollyjustbhappy Incorrect with the LG model, its 1080i. Rather than doing 2 frames per 120Hz like most 3D the LG model does 4 frames….i.e it does one frame for one eye then one frame for other eye, then alternates lines and does frame for one eye then the other. So each Eye gets a full image (all be it at 1080i) within 120Hz. For people with an LG Passive TV it will only do it if Trumotion is turned off.

    Hope that helps!

Just be aware that, as this is a passive system, it effectively halves the resolution to 540i when viewing 3D content.
